平湯大滝結氷まつり、開催中です。
2月15日（水）〜25日（土）の期間限定で、平湯大滝が氷瀑に姿を変えた景色をご覧いただけます。先週日曜の陽気で一部氷が崩れましたが、それでもこの迫力、ぜひ実際に見ていただきたいです。さらに寒さも戻ってきて、夜は-10℃近くまで冷え込む日もあり、迫力はますます増しています。
毎晩打ち上げられる花火と、無料でふるまわれる甘酒・お汁粉が、冷えた体を温めてくれます。寒いからこそ味わえる時間が、ここにあります。
Hirayu Otaki Ice Festival is on now, running February 15–25.
For a limited time, you can see Hirayu Otaki waterfall transformed into a stunning frozen cascade. Last Sunday’s sunshine softened parts of the ice, but the cold has since returned — with nights dipping close to -10°C, the formation is only growing more impressive. Come see it while it lasts.
Every evening, fireworks light up the sky above the falls, and free amazake (warm sweet sake) and oshiruko (sweet red bean soup) are served to warm you from the inside out.
This is the kind of experience that only works because of the cold. Come feel it for yourself.
